Ghostlight Theatre's Mission

The mission of Ghostlight Theatre is to entertain, educate and enrich the community through dramatic arts by offering a quality and diverse theater experience.   Ghostlight Theatre provides opportunities for the community to express their artistic abilities in a number of different ways.  Whether people want to be onstage, backstage, or just relax and enjoy a show, there will be something for everyone.

Ghostlight's History

Ghostlight Theatre was started in 2010. With little more than a couple bucks, a few local volunteers and a handful of dedicated and talented actors. What began as a quiet dream, grew into a 501(3) non-profit organization over the first year, with five Board Members.   For the first three seasons, Ghostlight actors performed in high school auditoriums and multi-purpose facilities in Surprise, including The Valley Vista Performing Arts Center.

In 2013, we were blessed with an opportunity to open our own theater, in a cozy space in Sun City West, where we still perform today.  We raised $15,000 to renovate a small retail location into an intimate performance area, including a small lobby, raised stage, space for 77 audience members, dressing rooms, and small back room for props and costumes. We added two new Board Members at that time, and in 2014, we added a Youth Theatre program. We also invested an additional $10,000 over the summer for theatre renovations (stage expansion, backroom renovations, and an additional exit door).

Just like the rest of the world, 2020 was a hard year for Ghostlight Theatre. The performance space sat empty for a whole year while we waited for the COVID-19 pandemic to subside. We finally reopened in the spring of 2021 and are so happy to be back in person, entertaining and engaging with our community once again!

 Ghostlight's Future

In early 2022, Ghostlight Theatre elected a new Board of Directors to head up our day to day operations. Our new board has no shortage of ideas for growing and improving the theater over the next few seasons. We will continue to host fundraising events and 50/50 raffles during each show to help us make our dreams become reality. Some of our future plans include new seating for the theater, a new sound board & microphones, and reviving the youth theater program. We appreciate the efforts of every volunteer, each patron, every actor, sponsor, and community member for their continued support and financial contributions. It is truly due to your support that we can do what we love and keep the arts alive and well in the West Valley. Thank you!
